Located in between Kao Tok Nam and Khao Toe hills to obstruct the
Pran Buri River at Pran Buri District of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province,
this earth dam of 42 m height and 1,500 m crest length which was
constructed during 1967-1978 is able to impound water at approximately
445 million cubic meters. Such retention capacity together with
distribution system completed in 1982 has enabled the supply of water
to 35,200 ha wet-season and 22,400 ha dry-season cultivated areas in
Pran Buri, Kui Buri and Muang Prachuap Khiri Khan districts of
Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. Flood disaster in the Pran Buri river
basin has been alleviated as well.
