As a barrier obstructed the Huai Luang, Huai Kud Pong, Huai Hin, Huai Kratip
watercourse at Ban Khok Sa-ad Sub-district of Muang Udon Thani Province
and Ban Dong Noi Sub-district of Kud Jap District, Udon Thani Province, this
earth dam of 12.50 height and 4.9 m crest length which was constructed in
1970 and completed in 1979 is able to impound water at approximately
113.250 million cubic meters. With distribution system completed in 1984,
the dam has provided benefits including irrigation water for cultivated areas
of 15,172.8 ha in the wet season and 1,920 ha for rice cultivation or 4,800 ha
for upland cultivation in the dry season as well as raw water for the water
works of Muang Udon Thani, Nong Wua So and Kud Jap districts.
